I Know Where I've Been

Where I've been this week:

My life has been taken over by the Cabaret!!! Last night we had the best cast party EVER! 

Everyday I wake up more and more sore but it's great because it's being caused by fantastic choreography in a fantastic show. The entire cast is magical and I am going to miss them an insane  amount when I leave Manhattan. I'm already preparing myself for the flood of tears that is inexplicably going to happen. 

That's about it for now. No life until after the show and I am totally okay with it!

Movie Star Face?

Today someone told me that I had a movie star face.....umm THANK YOU! I don't know exactly what that means but anything to do with movies and stars I'm good with. 

Tonight was our first run through with an actual audience! The audience was made up of 80 year olds but it was still an audience! Tomorrow is our official Opening Night and we've got a great audience coming! Including my bestie Emma! She is coming into town for the weekend and I cannot wait. 

I went to class with finger waves in the making. It was really attractive. No shame!

Lastly, IT'S FRIDAY! Thank the lord, it's been a long week.

Monday it was pouring rain

And then today I saw the first group of dandelions 

Conclusion: Kansas weather is RIDICULOUS!

Dress Rehearsal

Today was our first complete dress rehearsal for "Cabaret" yay! Not my favorite theatre experience but most of the cast is fantastic! I am a Kit Kat Club dancer along with three other girls. 

This is what I looked like tonight.

Outfit: Corset and funky velvet pants. 

The hair is supposed to be 30's but I thought it was supposed to be 40's so my bad. Tomorrow will be a faux bob I think.

Rainy Days

It's a rainy day today. I wish I had a balcony that I could sit on and read. Or at least a screen door to open so I could hear the rain. Here on the seventh floor you get to hear diddly squat.

But that's okay, it's raining and that's good enough for me. Most people need sunshine to live, like little plants saying, "feed me, feed me!" But I need the rain and clouds, it keeps my skin fresh ;). 

I have soo much homework that needs to be done but all I really want to do is sleep and read and drink tea. But as a "responsible" adult, I must do what I can to finish my university experience strong. Or whatever. 

Off to write 5 french journal entries now.

Roller Coaster Ride

Sleigh Bells: Riot Rhythm

What started out as a seemingly peaceful day soon turned into fucking hell. I am a complete nutter who forgot to check her rehearsal schedule so I was surprised by not one, but TWO, musical rehearsals today! 

After the first rehearsal I came back to the dorm, worked a two hour shift. Then, back to rehearsal. Left rehearsal and hour early to go to a work meeting where I was told that... *pause for dramatic effect* I would not be getting CA of the Month...once again. What a shock. Well actually, this was a shock as I kick ass at my job. This job has become my life this semester. Perhaps it's the fact that I keep telling everyone how kick ass I am at my job. 

I'm not the most humble of people...

All well, I deserve the award but didn't get it...now I know how Sandra Bullock felt all those years. But that's that. 

Now I'm relaxing with a cuppa and trying to decide what film to watch. I'm thinking a musical.

Days Gone By

This last Winter-break I had the privilege of living with my bestest friend in the whole world; Shannon. Shannon and I have been friends since 2001. For those of you not keen on math, that is 12 years. 12 years of hardcore friendship. Now, she attends University of Kansas while I attend Kansas State University...awkward! But over the break we spent quality, non-feuding, time together. 

We spent lots of time in Downtown Kansas City.

 My first hookah experience: 

Dearest Shannon, I love you so much. My life got exponentially better when you entered it and I am so glad you have never left! I cannot wait to grow old together.

Friday

I made it to Friday! I consider it a proper miracle that I survived the week. This week is a 33 hour work week and a crazy week for French assignments. This song basically got me through today:

Bad Day

Love it!

This song was especially helpful to me when I ran out of coffee this morning!!! Devastating, I can assure you. On top of that, I have no money to buy more coffee until next Friday! *dying*  This is why I can't have nice things. 

Today was mostly uneventful. Work, class, sleep, meeting, sleep, rehearsal, work. Repetition is my bitch. Sitting at work now listening to the droning of others while I tap away on my keyboard. On top of the monotonous tasks of work, I am in one of those moods where I cannot decide what music to listen to. What a hardship.

Hopefully something more exciting will happen that I can blog about later.

Hello, again.

Wow, what a shocker...I totally forgot about this new blog that I made about a week after I made it. Whoops. Anyway, I'm back...for now. 

College is in it's final stages and I am sooo over it. In exactly ONE MONTH I will be done with it forever!! EEEK. So I guess what I am experiencing is a lot like "senioritis" even though I'm not a senior. No, just a lowly junior but I will be withdrawing from University to pursue a temporary career of hairstyling before I make my fame. In either May or July I will be starting Z's Hair Academy in Overland Park which means that I will be moving to OP. This is a scary grown up thought! 

Do you know how difficult it is to find a cheap apartment? Like my kind of cheap, not my ex-roommate's kind of cheap. (She thinks Dillards is a reasonable place to shop when you're "poor") This same person also told me that I should get Dr. Dre headphones and when I told her I couldn't afford those she responded by saying that I could just get the cheap $300 pair because those were still as good....excuse me? 

ANYWAY, all I am looking for is a tiny place with a bathroom and a kitchen. I don't even need a formal bedroom. I'm really into that whole "starving artist" concept. Oh, the glamorous life.

That's all for now...I am going to finish out my 10 hours at work watching The Hunger Games. Holla!

Introductions

Hello lovely people of the world,

I shall start off this blog with an introduction of myself:

My name is Skylar Parrott. I am 19, almost 20!, and I am currently a college student and Kansas State University though after this semester I am dropping out. I am from a town in Kansas called Baldwin City. It is a town even though the word city is in the name, which always confused me as a child. I love the word love, the jury is still out about what I think about the actual thing. I love Broadway and films. Someday I will be work in one of those industries, or both! I love coffee and tea and anything alcoholic. I have a sister, whom I absolutely adore. She is 8 years my senior so I have always followed her around and looked up to her. That about sums me up. Just kidding, I'm too fabulous to be summed up in a paragraph but it gives you the general idea.

I hope to keep up with this blog but I have a terrible track record with blogs and journals and such so we shall see.
